"Super" Holiday Classes for All Ages
NRLD is offering free classes for children of all ages over the Christmas Break!
Stave off your children’s boredom this holiday season by signing them up for free classes at Newman Regional Library District. Children of all ages can discover the super hero in themselves. Please call the library to register, 837-2412, as space is limited.
Children ages 3-5 will explore super senses on Tuesday, Dec. 27th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with Anna Williamson. They will experiment with all five senses and see what they can do to make the “super.”
Students in grades 1-5 can choose from two classes. Mary St. Clair will lead the children to make a super hero flip book on paper and using PowerPoint on the computers on Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 2-4 p.m. The other class will be on Super Hero Senses on Tuesday, Jan. 3 from 1-2:30 p.m. with Anna Williamson.
Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to a Super Hero New Year’s Eve party from 7-9:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30th. This is a murder mystery party where the participants will be assigned roles and throughout the evening everyone will try to solve the mystery of the “Assassination at the Annual Super Hero Assembly.” The story is set at an annual superhero meeting where the heroes have gathered to discuss the capture of a notorious criminal. This party is full of super powers, deceit, intertwining story lines and murder. Refreshments will be served. Those wanting to attend must register by Wednesday, Dec. 28 so they can be assigned their roles.
Families are invited to an old-fashioned movie night on Monday, Jan. 2 from 6-8 p.m. Kids are welcome to come in pj’s to enjoy classic super heroes like Mighty Mouse, Larry Boy, and Popeye. It will be fun for the entire family as parents and grandparents share their favorite characters with the children. No registration required for this event, just come in to eat popcorn and watch these movies.
