May Computer Classes @ the Library

Document Actions

Three classes are offered this month: a continuation of our Introduction to Computers, a class in MS Word, and a couple of sessions to get you started on Ancestry.com.

Introduction Class on Computers Continues @ the Library

Due to popular demand, Newman Regional Library District has extended its free classes aimed at introducing beginners to using a computer. Classes are held on Thursdays from 11:30-12:30 at the library.  Please RSVP at 217-837-2412.

The classes this month will cover shopping on the Internet, computer and internet safety and maintenance; email basics, and getting started on Facebook. Participants may attend any or all sessions that cover topic of interest.

MS Word Classes @ the Library

So you can type a letter on Microsoft Word, but you don’t feel confident doing anything else, or perhaps you aren’t even sure if you are creating your letter in the most efficient way.  This set of classes is for you.  Learn how to get the most from Word on Wednesday evenings from 6-8:30 on May 16, 23 and 30 at Newman Regional Library. Please RSVP at 217-837-2412.

The class is for people who use the program at home or at the office. MS Word is the most commonly used word processing program.  Whether you are using Word 2003, 2007 or 2010, we can help you create more dynamic documents.

Who Do You Think You Are? @ the Library

If the new Friday evening television show has peaked your curiosity about your own family, you will want to attend one or both of these sessions to begin your exploration.  Discover how Ancestry.com and additional free sites can help you search for your family’s roots on Monday May 14 and/or May 28 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Newman Regional Library.  Please RSVP at 217-837-2412.

Library staff will help you get started on your search. Bring the names and as much information as you have about the oldest living relatives that you know about to begin your quest.  Participants will be introduced to census searches, how to use other people’s family trees to get information, and where you can find free information that may lead to discoveries about your family.
