Using Your Library Card
Borrowing
Individuals presenting valid borrower’s cards issued by the Newman Regional Library District are eligible to borrow materials from the Newman Regional Library District when the following conditions are met:
1. No materials which are more than one circulation period are overdue on their card.
2. No outstanding fines in excess of $6.00 have accrued to their card.
3. No materials borrowed for them from another library are overdue in any amount.
The library staff may not waive these regulations without the specific permission of the librarian, however, the patron may request and receive a 24-hour hold on the item(s) he or she wishes to check out to allow the patron to correct the situation which has resulted in loss of eligibility to borrow.
Individuals presenting a valid card from another public library in Illinois may borrow materials from the Newman Regional Library District. The card must have the name of the individual presenting it, and an expiration date in the future. The card must be either a resident borrower’s card or a system borrower’s card to be valid for reciprocal borrowing.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items
All items borrowed from the library may be renewed up to two times except new movies and new books. The new items may only be checked out once so that they circulate among as many people as possible. If your book belongs to NRLD or to a library in Lincoln Trail Libraries System you may renew it on-line. Go to the LTLS website (use the links page to go to LINC) and click on my account. Enter your bar code (without any spaces between the numbers) and pin number (the last four digits of your home phone) which will open your account to everything you have out and on hold. You can check the box on the left and then click renew to ask it to be renewed. The site will confirm your renewal and give you the new due date. New items or items on reserve may not be renewed so that others have a chance to use them in a timely fashion.
Library Fines
The Newman Regional Library District has established, in addition to the schedule for lost or damaged items, the following schedule of fines for overdue materials as well as fees for other services provided by the Newman Regional Library District. Patrons with responsibility for material in any format which is more than 90 days overdue are also responsible for any and all collection and/or court costs incurred by the library in its efforts to secure the return of the material.
