Using the On-Line LINC Catalog for Search & Request

The on-line catalog lets you easily search for and request the book, movie, audio book, or magazine that you want at NRLD and at other libraries in the Lincoln Trail Libraries System.

To find the catalog, you can go to NRLD’s website for an easy to use link. You can find NRLD’s site at www.newmanregionallibrary.org. Clink on "Resources" or the link on the home page for the LTLS catalog.  The rest of these directions are for how to proceed from NRLD’s site’s link. You can also type in www.ltls.org to your address line on your web browser.

The LTLS catalog is called LINC and clicking on it will open the quick search page. If you click on the "Basic tab" you will have a choice of what to search for so that your results are more accurate.  On the "Basic" page, start your search by filling in one blank on this page.

If you want to search for a movie or music CD quickly, click on “Media” at the top of the page. “Advanced” will let you search for more than one criteria, such as, both author and title. It will also let you restrict your search to NRLD held items.

If you know the title of the book or audio book you want, you can put it in the “Title Starts With” box. Then click “go.” You will most likely get a list of “Search Results” from which you can choose the item you were interested in.

Click on the title to get the details screen. This screen gives you a short description of the book, a list of the libraries that own it with information on its status, some links on the left bar, and gives you a chance to request a copy. Once you determine this is what you want, click on “Request Any Copy” to reserve it for yourself.

The next screen will ask for your bar code number from the back of your plastic NRLD library card and for your pin number which is the last four digits of your home phone in most cases.  Type in the bar code without any spaces between the numbers.

Choose the location you wish to have the book delivered to and click on Request. You can choose any automated library in Lincoln Trails to pick up your book, i.e. if you pass the library in Villa Grove, more often than our library, you may choose Camargo Township District Library.

The following screen will let you know you have successfully placed your request. You can then return to searching to find another item.

This same process works for searching for a movie, music CD or audio book. When the item arrives at NRLD we will call or e-mail you so you can come get it in a timely fashion. We are glad to bring these items to Murdock for pick-up.
